Signs on every corner. Until I ran out of signs. Which was right about when the road to Loch Lomond got REALLY twisty.... |
Unless you're the lead dog, the view never changes. This was the view of Bantha towing the big white rental trailer. The trailer was JAM PACKED to the top with STUFF, and 5 kayaks. |
Heh, I like my work better than the County's, huh? |
|
Fog shrouded the Loch early in the morning as fishing dudes hunted the tastiest fishies in the lake. |
Richard shows up in the "Original Sit On Top!" |

Andrea and Meaghan in the BEST Easter Bonnets at the party! These two were an AWESOME amount of help!!!! |
The inflatable Easter Bunnies caused some excitement as we prepared for inflation. I only brought one whimpy car battery & an inverter. Would it work???? |
Paddlers kept arriving by the, well, BOATLOAD! |
|
The paddle blocks a naked kayaker. (not really) |
Heh, it's the Nametag Lady. She was GREAT and kept good track of nametags and signins. Check out her hat. It's the same one I'm wearing. |
Hi, Marilyn. Marilyn went to some college on the East Coast I think. Or was it the West Coast. Or in Grenada or somewhere like that. I can't remember. I'll have to ask her. |
|
Boats are tied to EVERYTHING in sight. |
Meaghan and Andrea outdo themselves (as always) by setting up the raffle items. Andrea also donated about a zillion pounds of GOURMET chocolate. Geez, I about died from Choc-Overdose! |
Mrs Miro in camoflauge. |
|
Check out the 2-man, hand-built Baidarka. |
The front seat is for rugrats. |
Amazing boat! |
|
The nametag lady does an EXCELLENT job with nametags. THANX! |
Onlookers. |
The food arrives. Everybody waits.... |
|
Heh, Blue Eyes. Several poochies showed up. |
Where's the food!!! |
Check out Brian hauling ice (middle, left corner). That's enough ice to sink the Titanic.... |
|
Closer he comes. Step by step... |
....inch by inch.... |
...while the baidarkas patrol the lake.... |
|
...until, WHAM, the Ken's brand new boat smacks knocks the ice off of Brian's dolly. Blast! |
Of course, Ken is looking on, shaking his head, and wondering if his insurance guy will believe that his brand new boat actually struck an iceberg in the middle of Loch Lomond.... |
The Easter Bunnie/Duck/Chicken/Whatever. |
|
Sally practices for her gynocologist exam on Raphael. |
Ryan and Andrew come screaming up the trail. |
Ice. Ken drags ice. The same ice that might have sunk his boat. |
|
More and More paddlers arrive. |
Victoria is a huge hit and enjoys paddling. |
|
|
Ryan shows off his tonsils. |
"This is your kid." |
"This is your kid in 40 years on drugs. Any questions?" |
|
Kids retrieve kayaks that have floated away.... |
...while Richard arrives in the original Sit On Top. |
Gail arrives. |

Deirdre is here! Oooh, I hope she has CHOCOLATE!!!! |
More and more food! |
More and more ICE! |
|
Zoya Burgers. YUM! Turkey, onion, and spices. |
Marilyn's famous cookies. She got the recipe at the college she attended. Where in the HECK is that school, anyway? I gotta ask her. |
Miro's new baby! |
|
Visitors from afar |
With Chinese sausages. |
Kelvin concentrates. |
|
While friends wait for lunch to be ready. |
Meanwhile, mingling continues. |
Marilyn is STILL schlepping ice. |
|
Zoya looks for the kids. |
Brian offers to French Kiss me. |
Nope, offer withdrawn. |
|
Where in the HECK did she go to college? This is driving me CRAZY! |
A hill child in the trees? Nahhh, it's just Andrew in a private picnic spot in the redwoods. |
More and more kayakers come. This is the Highlander contingent, I guess? |
|
Yep, definitely Scot's. |
Wandering around.... |
...eating and gabbing and eating.... |
|
Check out the battery operated fan! Doubles as a kayak motor? |
More motors! |
Heh, it's a Baidarka kid.... More on that later. |
|
A great shot (except for that guy on the right ;-) |
Teenagers and rugrats EVERYWHERE! |
Gail grimaces. |
|
Whassup? |
The raffle ticket lady! |
More hill kids in the trees? |
|
Nope: just Andrew again! |
Andrew defies gravity. |
Ryan eats. And eats. And eats! |
|
Eating under the redwoods. This is what California is all about! |
Oh great, a homeless guy has wandered into camp.... |
...and he's eatin our food.... |
|
Sure has a pretty mouth. |
Andy shows up. |
...as does Diane. |
|
Mark brought a PIZZA? Nahhhh, that's a TORT. AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS by the way! |
Jack and Val arrive. |
Great shot, huh? And the lake isn't bad, either. |
|
Gravity inversions are known to happen. |
Andy and crew eat. |
Oops, another gravity inversion. These things are SCARRY! |
|

YAHOO! The first kid victims -er-er- passengers of the day. Zoya warns Ryan to watch out for sharks. |
This is Andrea's first time in a Kayak! |
YAHOO! She's LOVING it! |
|
VERY Relaxed! |
She doesn't yet know that the boat is leaky. |
And prone to attacks by Baidarkas! HAH! (By the way, check out the girl in the Baidarka. Amazing!) |
|
Newbies. PERFECT form.... |
Dean on a Rescue mission to the Island. We dropped several people on the island to explore. |
The kids are in desperate need of going to the bathroom by now. Other kayakers join the rescue expedition. |
|
But there are no seats in Brit boats, so off I go, alone.... |
DOCTOR AMRO!!!! |
Amro ALWAYS brings salmon. YUM! |
|
Teri, where's Greg? |
SASQUACH RUNS THRU CAMP! IRREFUTABLE PROOF!!!! |
Mel. What more can I say. |
|
Mel thinks that he's a duck and can fly. |
But he can't, no matter how hard he tries. |
Mel is more of a flightless waterfowl than a duck, it seems. But don't tell Mel... |
|
How about this for directions? |
Well, time to pack up. Gail takes off with her green boat. |
AMRO!!!! What are you doing with a ROW BOAT when there are free kayaks all over the place?!?! |
|
DOCTOR AMRO! Paddling two beautiful babes! |
Diane beaches as Mark chivalrously waits. |
Diane practices stone braces on the boat ramp. |
|
She leans to the right.... |
...and recovers perfectly... |
The Baidarkas return. Without riders. Whales must have eaten the riders. |
|
Dang, that's a work of ART! |
Ed returns from a long day of hunting Loch Monsters. |
No luck with the hunt. But there's always tomorrow.... |
|
And Ed's lovely co-whale-hunter returns intact, too. |
|
More stone bracing.... |
|
DOCTOR AMRO!!!! Rent a TROLLING MOTOR, Dude!!!! |
Check out this nifty inflatable boat! No kidding: a 2 person INFLATABLE. With a rugrat in the front seat! |
Up the ramp. |
|
Mark patiently waits. |
They pull the plug on the lake every day at 6:30 and the lake drains. Well, that's what they TOLD us, anyway. But I think that's a ruse to get us off the lake. |
See yah.... |
|
Deirdre prepares to leave. |
"Um, Dean, who's going to pay for the iceberg damage to my new boat?" |
Help yourself to a kayak. They're EVERYWHERE! |
|
High Five! |
Partiers. |
Grins R Us. |
|
...You see... |
The annual Pig Nose contest begins.... |
|
|
|
|
|
|
You'd think this was Loch Lomond in SCOTTLAND or something! |
Waiting to tow boats back. |
Janine shows off her rare and endangered Purple Peeps! |
|
Peeps for EVERYBODY! |
Boats STILL litter the shoreline.... |
Another gravity well appears as Mel attacks Deirdre with an air gun. |
|
Deirdre discovers the Air Gun, as Mel seals his fate in divorce court. |
Deirdre hollers, "Mel, go git yerself A ROPE!" Terrified of Deirdre, Mel obliges. The lynchin commenses shortly. |
Pictures galore, too.... |
|
OHMIGOAH! IT"S THE LOCH LOMAND NESS MONSTER!!!! |
Han, just another Scot towing another party barge... |
And another. Note how the tow boats are required, by Scottish law, to be color coordinated with their barges. |
|
Z. With a Halo.... He must be a holy dude! |
Followed by an eclipse of the sun.... |
Boats and Barges. Barges and Boats. Ken is a veritable AAA of the Loch. |
|
Damn, Ken is GOOD! That gear barge is bigger than he AND his boat combined! |
"Do you really NEED all this CRAP?" A Kenton-ism.... |
It's MILLER Time! |
|
What, no LOAD? Merely an empty pink boat? |
The Face of the Loch! |
The ones that got away. Got away from us, anyway.... But not this guy.... (He wasn't with us, unfortunately.) |
|
Like elephants in the circus.... Trunk to tail, tail to trunk.... |
...the chain of party barges continues.... |
Heh, isn't that the chameleon who organized this fiasco? |
|
How many Beers? TWO! |
No, make that FIVE! |
PERFECT paddling style. |
|
Look at that form! |
and grace... |
...and the Queenly Wave.... |
|
....Permanent Queenly Wave!.... |
The famous RoYak. Nobody used the RoYak. Its feelings are hurt. Boo hoo.... |
Beaching at the ramp sure is easier than beaching in the dirt.... |
|
It was a good hunt.... |
Who's the chameleon towing all the boats. What an ASS! |
Oh, wait.... |
|
...Heh, wait, that's ME.... |
The sad-looking inflatable. The valve leaked and the poor thing just about sank.... |
Wow, that's a LOT of PADDLES! |
|
Barb on the right. |
No drownings = GOOD PARTY! |
Moose. |
|
For next year. What do you think? I'm thinking that "Loch EyeYak" will be better! |
Definitely. Loch Dean. |
Oh, great, the LOADING commences. This'll take FOREVER! (Thank goodness for Mel and Ken and Barb and Deirdre and Mike and Cris and and and.... They stayed till the bitter end!) |
|
Mike and Cris split. |
Check out the Kayak Holder.... |
Load 'em up, Head 'em out! |
|
Good to go.... |
Well, let's see how much THIS trip cost me in gas.... |
Bantha gets a good dinner! |
|
She gobbles hungrily because.... |
....she had a heavy load.... |
....to tow across the Himilayas.... |
|
Good Bantha! |
HOLY SHIBOOTY! 97.9 miles / 9.036 gallons = 10.83 Miles per Gallon. I'd better get a THANK YOU note from Arco!!!! |
Wait, a few more from Marilyn.... |
|
And another... |
And another.... |
Some fun. Hope to see you next year!!!! |
